El Potrillo Western Wear didn't start with a grand opening or a ribbon cutting. It started with a family, a passion for western style, and a booth at a flea market.
Back in the late 1990s, what began as a weekend hustle selling western wear at local Houston flea markets quickly turned into something much bigger. Customers kept coming back — not just for the boots and jeans, but for the people behind the counter who genuinely knew and loved the product. By 1999, that passion had outgrown the flea market, and Potrillo Western Wear opened its doors as a brick-and-mortar store in the Houston area.
The name? It was a nickname that stuck
— and so did everything else.
Over 25 years later, El Potrillo is still family-owned, still family-run, and still rooted in the same commitment that drew customers in from day one: bringing the best in western fashion to Houston and beyond.
